I made this amazing shepherd’s pie, cottage pie, or hachis Parmentier, it is a ground meat pie with a crust or topping of mashed potato. Follow Me facebook.com/beenoskitchen/ instagram.com/beenokitchen/ Twitter: @s_beeno Complete Recipe Lets have a look at the ingredients first Ingredients: --Beef or mutton mince 1kg --Oil 2-3 Tablespoon --Beef or chicken broth 1-1/2 to 2 cups --Peas 1 cup(optional) --Carrot 1 chopped --Onion 1 medium chopped --Plain flour 2 Tablespoon --Tomato paste 2-3 Tablespoon --Salt according to taste --Black pepper 1/2 teaspoon --Red chilli flakes 1 teaspoon --Ginger garlic paste 1 tablespoon --Garlic Powder 1/3 tea spoon --Oregano 1 Teaspoon --Parsley 1 teaspoon --Potatoes 4-5 boiled mashed --Milk 1 cup(warm) --Butter 2-3 Tablespoon --Cheese(optional) Lets move on to our recipe. The authentic recipe has peas in it. If you want you can add one cup of peas in your ingredients. My children don’t eat peas so I am not adding any. Preheat the pan first and add the oil in it. Now add the ginger garlic paste in the oil. As soon as the ginger garlic paste changes color we will add our mince into it. Mix the mince and ginger garlic paste well. Now add salt to this mince until our mince is broiled. We will add the rest of spices later. Leave the mince to broil well by adding one cup water into the mince. In 10-12 mins it will be broiled. It depends how much time it takes for you to broil it. Finer mince will broil quickly. Until our mince cooks, we will take our boiled potatos and mash them, This should be very soft. Add some salt into these mashed potatos. Mash well and then add heated butter and milk. Do not add all the butter and milk together. do it in small steps. Add cheese. Mash some more. topping of chees on the top if you want. My kids love cheese so I add it. The mashed potatos made this way are very tasty. Lets get back to our keema now and check if its done. There is a little water in the mince its well cooked now. Now we will add all our spices into this mince. This is very different and very tasty. You should at least try making it once. Something I forgot to tell you is that I am adding two table spoon of tomato paste which gives it a tangy flavor, you should add it as well. We will broil it more till the water is all gone. After that we will add onion and carrots into it and then add our broth to it so that onion and carrots get cooked as well. Water is not more in the mince and we will broil it further a little more. It smells so nice. Smells heavenly Now we will add chopped onion and carrots into it We have to broil it well. The mince doenst smell any more. It smell really really nice. We are not adding flour to this. This is a very secret ingredient as it binds the mince and veggies together. Now we will add our stock to it . you can take beef broth or chicken stock which ever is easily available to you. You can use knor chiken cubes. With one cube you can make one cup stock. I have added two cups of freshly made chicken stock. Now we will for 3-4 minutes as its almost done. Until then our mince will be fully ready. Let have a look at how our mince is broiling. Our mince looks yummy and this is cooked well. See that the flour we have added to it has made it juicy and yummy. And its almost done now. Lets just dry the water we see here. We don’t have to completely dry as we want our pie to be juicy. If you want to make it in the dinner then the best thing is that you don’t have to cook it there and then. You can prepare it well before hand dish it out and put a layer of mashed potatos on it. And whenever you have to serve it , you can just bake it in 15 mins and serve. Now the mince look fully ready. We will turn off the stove and dish the mince out. See I have dished it out. I am making it two dishes. You can make it one. I use two dishes as I am going to use one dish now and one in the dinner. Look now we are spreading a layer of our mashed potatos on the mince. We are done with this now. I am sprinkling a little parsely on it. You can too if you want it. I have dried pasely. I love its smell and if you find it fresh its best, Now this ready to go in the oven. We will bake it for 10 mins and see how its done I am not adding cheese to it . you can add cheese to it mozzarella or cheddar which every you like. Lets see how it gets baked. Our shepherd’s pie is ready now. It smells so nice. After being baked it gets tastier. Now I going to cut it a little so you can see the layer of mince and potato. See now this has two layers. This is so yummy
